Connect Stacko to Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor

Updated July 4, 2026 · Stacko team

For Stacko users who want to ask an AI assistant about their own receipts and expenses using Stacko’s MCP server. Currently in beta.

Short answer

Stacko has an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so AI assistants that support MCP connectors — like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor — can search your receipts and summarize your expenses in plain language. Access is read-only, you approve the connection yourself, and you can disconnect anytime. The feature is in beta and rolling out to paid plans.

What this is

MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to tools you use. Stacko exposes a small set of read-only tools over MCP, scoped to your own account.

Once connected, you can ask your assistant questions about your receipts and expenses instead of building filters or exports by hand.

What your assistant can do

  • Search your receipts by vendor, date, amount, or text.
  • Summarize spending by category or time period.
  • Summarize tracked deduction-related expenses.
  • List the tags you use to organize receipts.

How the connection works

  • You add Stacko as a connector in your AI assistant.
  • You sign in to your Stacko account and approve access on a consent screen.
  • The assistant gets read-only access to your receipt data — nothing is edited or deleted.
  • You can disconnect at any time from your assistant’s settings.

Availability

The MCP connection is in beta and rolling out to paid plans. Setup instructions and the connector details are provided when the beta reaches your account.

If you would like early access, email support@stacko.ca from your Stacko account email.

Important boundary

Assistant answers are summaries of your Stacko records, for your review — they are informational, not tax or accounting advice. Verify details in Stacko before relying on them.

Write actions (editing receipts or tags from an assistant) are off by default and gated behind explicit confirmation safeguards.

Tax and legal disclaimer

This page is general information, not tax, accounting, legal, financial, payroll, or investment advice. Stacko provides informational tools and organized records. Review your records and consult a qualified professional for your situation.
